The Best Easter Books for Babies & Toddlers in 2024
After consulting a post about the best Easter basket items for babies and toddlers, I eagerly purchased Pat the Bunny.
When the book came, I was disappointed to find a cheaply bound, simple book with outdated illustrations.
This was one of the great Easter books?
Disappointed, I put the book in the return pile.
Have you ever purchased a book for your child that has left you underwhelmed? That’s how I often feel with books for babies and toddlers. There’s a fine line between simple and engaging and overly simple and uninspired.
I’ve put together this list of great Easter picture books for babies and toddlers. Grab one of our favorite Easter books to add to your child’s Easter baskets so you’ll never be disappointed again.
1. We’re Going on an Egg Hunt* Martha Mumford
Join these bunnies as they set out for an egg hunt. Can you help them find them all? We’re Going on an Egg Hunt is a flap book that your toddler can use to help the little bunny rabbits on their search.
If your child loves the classic We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, they’ll love this rendition that follows a similar pattern.
2. Good News! It’s Easter! Glenys Nellist
This book themes new life in spring alongside the new life that Jesus’ resurrection brings. It’s a nice combination of a spring and Easter book. However, if you’re looking for a good book that teaches your baby/toddler the Easter story, this one isn’t it. Good News! It’s Easter! shows Jesus coming from the grave but doesn’t cover the rest of the story. It’s still a nice reminder of the theme of new life in the Easter season and may be all your baby or toddler needs at this age. Plus, it’s a great reminder of the true meaning of the holiday.
3. That’s Not My Bunny… Fiona Watt
Come along with this mouse as he looks for his bunny in this Usborne Touchy-Feely Book. Each page has a new bunny with new textures for your baby/toddler to feel. What I love about these books is how the texture is given a description, so your young one can tactically learn what each descriptive word means.
That’s Not My Bunny… is a simple board book that young kids will love for it’s interactive qualities.
4. Home for a Bunny Margaret Wise Brown
This classic book tells the tale of a bunny searching for a home. He sees the other animals in their homes, but nothing seems to fit his needs. Until he finds another bunny whose home seems just right.
While not specifically about Easter, Home for a Bunny would make a great Easter gift. This sweet story focuses on the topic of spring, has beautiful illustrations, and is one of the Little Golden Books.
5. How to Catch the Easter Bunny Adam Wallace
This clever book teaches kids what not to do when trying to catch the Easter Bunny. The Easter Bunny’s smart enough to escape all of your clever traps. But the good news is he’ll be around next year to bring more eggs.
This cute book is great fun for toddlers. Watch as the Easter Bunny cleverly escapes each trap in How to Catch the Easter Bunny.
6. Don’t Push the Button! An Easter Surprise Bill Cotter
Larry is back, once again, with his famous button in this fun read. Don’t push the button! But actually, go ahead, and let’s see what happens.
As everything is transformed into an Easter by the press of a button, you and your toddler are sure to have fun with Don’t Push the Button! An Easter Surprise and all it’s interactive elements.
7. Llama Llama Easter Egg Anna Dewdney
Llama Llama Easter Egg is a great Easter-themed book. I love these Llama Llama books for helping introduce a concept or holiday to young children.
Come along as Llama Llama experiences Easter and teach your little one what to expect on their own Easter day.
8. Eggs Are Everywhere Chronicle Books
Where’s the easter egg? Eggs Are Everywhere is a guessing game for babies. Spin the wheel and lift the flaps to find the eggs. Each page has a new scenario and a new place to look.
If your baby loves guessing, this will be a great book for her. I appreciate that the wheel means the egg won’t always be in the same place. This will likely be a favorite from the baby years through toddlerhood.
9. Where Are Babies Easter Eggs? Karen Katz
Where Are Babies Easter Eggs? is one of the first Easter books I got for my son when he was a baby. This simple lift-the-flap board book has your baby hunting for Easter eggs on each page. While she goes along, she’ll find lots of other Easter items—jelly beans, chicks, and bunnies. In the end, she finds all the colorful eggs.
This colorful book, with holographic images, will draw your baby into the Easter egg hunt.
10. Little Blue Truck’s Springtime Alice Schertle
Join Little Blue Truck as he greets all his friends this spring. Learn about all the baby animals and count them on each page.
While Little Blue Truck’s Springtime isn’t specifically about Easter, it’s a great springtime book with interactive flaps and cute baby animals.
11. Sunrise, Easter Surprise! Hannah C. Hall
This well-crafted Easter book highlights spring, new life, and the resurrection. Each page includes new Easter animals who hear of the Good News. The text rhymes and is written in simple language. In the end, we see an empty tomb and a risen Jesus, telling us the story of Easter and the story of Jesus.
If you’re looking for the perfect Easter book that’s about more than eggs and springtime, Sunrise, Easter Surprise! is a great way to introduce young children to the resurrection.
I hope you love these Easter books as much as we do and find a few to add to your Easter traditions. Pick up these best books for a happy Easter so you don’t find yourself disappointed by simple books this Easter morning.
